Saint Albans W.Va. attraction reaches 25 years this Christmas

The Christmas Season marks the 25th Anniversary of the acclaimed Saint Albans Festival of Lights. A lighted display of festive holiday lights has been shown over the the hills of ths Saint Albans City Park for two and a half decades and has become a tradition for many families throughout the Kanawha Valley. Ths Saint Albans Partnership is currently making plans to make this year even more special and memorable to the families who visit.

One of the highlights of visiting the Festival is the picture with Santa that is available at the top of the hill at Santa's House. Families can enjoy free hot chocolate and cookies along with their visit to the Jolly Old Elf. Santa's House will be one of the areas improved this year, along with other proposed ideas being heard by a special committee which has been formed to plan the Christmas festivities.

"It has to be magical," said Cheryl Thomas of both the Saint Albans Partnership and the Parks and Recreations committee. She went on to explain that every child deserves that magical Christmas experience that we all would wish for. Indeed, the plans being made promote just that.

There are several events and festive activities being planned this year in the town of Saint Albans, along with the Festival's anniversary. The town will feature activities throughout the entire month leading up to Christmas. These include a town Christmas tree lighting, Christmas parade, historic home tour, lighted boat parade, and even some special performances at the Alban Theater.

The Festival of Lights will kick off on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Further details will be disclosed in further articles.
