In time with the release of Sailor Moon Crystal, North Carolina’s three-day anime convention, Animazement, will be hosting two of the Japanese voice actors from the original show. In attendance will be Keiko Han, who played the role of Luna, along with Toru Furuya, who voiced Tuxedo Kamen.
Keiko Han was born April 5, 1953 and hails from Tokyo, where she works as both an astrologer and voice actor. Her roles over the years have been numerous, including work done for anime, video games and dubbing of foreign films. Some of her most famous roles also include those of Lalah Sune of Mobile Suit Gundam, Saori Kido of Saint Seiya and the voice over of Spider-Woman for the Marvel: Ultimate Alliance games.
Toru Furuya was born July 31, 1953 and co-starred in a number of anime shows alongside Keiko Han. This includes roles such as, Amuro Ray of Mobile Suit Gundam, Pegasus Seiya of Saint Seiya, and he also provided the dubbed voice of Daredevil in the Marvel: Ultimate Alliance games. Furuya was also the voice of Yamcha from Dragonball and worked alongside another Animazement guest, Toshio Furukawa, voice of Piccolo in Dragonball.
The all new Sailor Moon Crystal, set to air July 5, 2014 at 7PM in Japan, (simulcast worldwide) and airing every other Saturday thereafter, has confirmed the return of Mitsuishi Kotono as Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Moon. The remaining Sailor Scouts have all new voice actors.
