Now you can add "sailing off into the sunset" on the "Angel Island Tiburon Ferry" to your list of "romantic Bay Area getaways" to check out this weekend with Friday, May 16 marking the official launch date of Angel Island Tiburon Ferry’s "2014 sunset cruise season running May through October.” This weekend offers the perfect time to “cast off” the work week aboard a relaxing one and a half hour "Tiburon Ferry" to the Golden Gate Bridge aboard the "Angel Island Ferry" on San Francisco Bay. All the fun begins with a trip to Marin County’s Tiburon Peninsula, which is a cool Bay Area getaway all in of itself located just about 10 minutes north over the Golden Gate Bridge.
The public is invited to bring along a picnic dinner and their favorite bottle of wine or beverages to enjoy while feasting on the deliciously spectacular views of:
- The San Francisco skyline
- Alcatraz Island
- Angel Island State Park
- The Golden Gate Bridge
No time to pack a bite? No worries. There are also a number of fabulous Tiburon shops and restaurants to pick up something delicious on the way to the "Tiburon Ferry" dock. Once onboard, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and snacks are also available for purchase. Travelers also have the option of enjoying the sights from both indoor and outdoor seating areas, as well as are free to roam with plenty of space to move about the upper and lower decks comfortably to take photographs and socialize.
4th generation Angel Island - Tiburon Ferry Company president and CEO Captain Maggie McDonogh notes, “We all live such busy lives these days and it’s even more important than ever to set aside some time to getaway from our everyday routines to relax, unwind and reconnect with nature and that special someone in our lives. Our Tiburon sunset cruises offer people the chance to experience the dynamic natural beauty of San Francisco Bay in a fun, relaxed, casual setting...and are really the perfect ‘getaway’ when you don’t have the time or the budget to go away.”
As the weather is rather unpredictable on the bay, Captain Maggie also recommends travelers dress in layers, and have a warm coat or sweater on-hand. For those looking for the quintessential romantic getaway, bring along a blanket to cozy up under while sipping wine and gazing at the setting sun.
Tiburon Sunset Cruises are $20.00 per person and depart Angel Island Tiburon Ferry’s dock located at 21 Main Street in Tiburon, Calif. at 6:30 p.m., returning to the Tiburon dock location at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings May 16 through October 11, 2014.
Tiburon Sunset Cruise tickets can be purchased at the gate or reserved online.
