The John Ed Keeter Public Library in Saginaw, Texas received a donation of over 2,000 toys from the Central Dallas Lowe’s free “Build and Grow” program in May. Toys were then distributed to all the Pre-K Eligible children at Hafley Development Center and will be distributed during Christmas time to children in need at the Community Link Mission in Saginaw.
Community Link volunteers Connie Heberer and Donna Anderson came to the library on Friday, May 24th to pick up the truckloads of toys for their organization. Ms. Heberer explained, “Community Link serves close to 400 families per month. Sometimes it’s hard for us to collect enough toys before Christmas to distribute to all the needy children we serve, but this year with the donation each child will have something for Christmas.”
Already in May, some of the teachers at the Hafley Development Center were able to have the children assemble the wood toys in the classrooms. Toys ranged from a wide variety of Disney characters to basketball hoops, automobiles, coin machines, and more. Visit www.lowesbuildandgrow.com for more information about the program.
The Saginaw library was able to use this wonderful donation to promote all the FREE programs and services they provide each year to the children in the community including the Summer Reading Club Program.
The Saginaw Public Library Summer Reading Club Program is open to children ages zero (0) to 5th grade and will begin June 12th at 10:00AM at the Saginaw Recreation Center located at 633 W. McLeroy Blvd.
