The SAG Awards 2014 heats up awards season on Saturday night with another slew of designer-clad celebrities on a red carpet that has already been rolled out, according to a Jan. 17 CBS News report.
One star who is had a great 2013 awards season and may have an even better 2014 season is actress Jennifer Lawrence. America’s sweetheart, three years and counting, is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for her role as Rosalyn Rosenfeld in “American Hustle.”
She is up against one of the most talented and stylish actresses this season, “12 Years a Slave” actress Lupita Nyong'o, Julia Roberts, who is nominated for “August: Osage County,” Oprah Winfrey for “The Butler,” and June Squibb for “Nebraska.” Lawrence and the rest of the “American Hustle” cast are up for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
One of the most buzzed about actresses on the red carpet, Lawrence is a huge Christian Dior devotee. A red carpet without Lawrence in another Christian Dior Haute Couture creation is hard to find. When it comes to the SAG Awards however, Lawrence has switched it up in the past.
As the Examiner previously reported, the actress blew fans away in a Christian Dior haute couture gown and Chopard jewelry at the 2013 SAG Awards. She accessorized with the hair trend of the night, the side part, and deep red lips. At the SAG 2012 Awards, Lawrence opted for a bright pink Oscar de la Renta gown, which she accessorized with a Judith Leiber clutch and Roger Vivier heels.
While her white Dior dress at the 2014 Golden Globes received mixed reviews, there is no doubt that the star is a frontrunner for the SAG Awards tonight. Nyong’o, however has a very strong chance. She may swoop in and score the awards, both on the best dressed list and the Supporting Female Actor award.
One thing is for sure. No one will be the least bit surprised if Lawrence wins a 2014 SAG Awards in a Dior dress and Chopard jewels.
The SAG Awards 2014 will air live Saturday from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on TNT and TBS, beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
