On January 27, 2013, the 19th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards took place in Los Angeles, California. A number of Hollywood’s finest actors attended the event, and were recognized with award nominations and wins. The red carpet hair, make-up and fashion are generating positive headlines. Some of tonight’s most celebrated actresses stunned on the red carpet with beautiful hair, make-up, and even manicures. Claire Danes, Lea Michele, Julianne Moore, Julianna Margulies, and Anne Hathaway were at the event, and Danes, Moore, and Hathaway won awards at the event tonight. If you were thrilled with their red carpet looks, you can recreate the looks using products from L’Oreal Paris and Matrix, following the steps below.
CLAIRE DANES (HAIR)
HAIRSTYLIST: Peter Butler
INSPIRATION: To compliment Claire’s one-shoulder Givenchy dress and allow her neckline to show, stylist Peter Butler pulled her hair back into a chic, low ponytail with a soft side part. He said to her, “If we try and make this Hollywood, it just won’t work,” so he kept the look fresh and cool but still elegant with soft pieces falling around the face. “The dress is very sharp looking and I wanted to soften it by giving her a cool ‘New York girl’ style,” he said.

STEP-BY-STEP:

STEP 2: Blew hair out with a medium round brush
STEP 3: Brushed hair into a side part and lightly ran BIOLAGE Exquisite Oil Replenishment Treatment ($22) over hair to smooth flyaways
STEP 4: Applied Design Pulse Mega Dust ($15) to roots at the crown of her head and lightly teased to provide height to the pony
STEP 5: Gathered hair at the nape of the neck, leaving out some angles in the front, and secured with a bungee elastic, joining the two hooks underneath the pony
STEP 6: Pulled out small pieces around her ears to keep the look ethereal and not too done
STEP 7: Lightly sprayed Total Results Amplify Hairspray ($15) to keep it all together, while not looking too stiff or finished
STEP 8: Finished off the look with a few sprays of Total Results Blonde Care Flash Filler Sheer Mist ($16) as a shine spray to bring out and enhance her blonde hue.

LEA MICHELE (MAKEUP)
MAKEUP ARTIST: Melanie Inglessis
INSPIRATION: Lea wanted to add edge to her bright pink Valentino gown, so Melanie went with a light smoky eye, contoured cheeks and a soft nude lip to complement her sleek, long locks. The overall look is pretty but modern.
STEP-BY-STEP:
STEP 1: Melanie mixed Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in Golden Beige 6 and Caramel 8 ($59 each) and applied it using a wet sponge to create a dewy finish
STEP 2: To contour Lea’s cheekbones, she applied L’Oréal Paris Visible Lift Color Lift Blush in Nude Lift ($12.95) under the cheekbone and L’Oréal Paris Visible Lift Color Lift Blush in Peach Gold Lift ($12.95) on the apple of the cheek to add freshness to the look
STEP 3: Creating a soft smoky eye, she blended the lightest and darkest shades of L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Eye Shadow Quad in Cupa Joe ($7.95). She used the lightest shade on the brow bone and inner corners of the eyes to highlight and placed the darkest brown shade along the lash line for definition. To finish it off, she blended the shadow to create depth
STEP 4: Melanie then used L’Oréal Paris Le Kohl Pencil Smooth Defining Eyeliner in Café ($8.48) to define the lash line and smudged it out, on both the top and bottom lids. She finished the eye with a couple coats of Telescopic Shocking Extensions Mascara in Blackest Black ($9.95) to create long, lush lashes
STEP 5: To subtly complement Lea’s hot pink dress, she first applied a coat of L’Oréal Paris Colour Caresse by Colour Riche Luminous Lipcolour in Sheer Linen ($9.99) and then layered L’Oréal Paris Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stain by Colour Riche in Eternally Nude ($9.99) for a bit of sheen on the nude lip
Hair Tip: Get Lea’s signature dip-dyed locks at-home with L’Oréal Paris’ new Féria Wild Ombré which uses an expert brush to make application a breeze ($12.99)
JULIANNE MOORE (MAKEUP)
MAKEUP ARTIST: Elaine Offers
INSPIRATION: Julianne's SAG Awards look was an updated and springtime take on old Hollywood glamour - very sexy, but clean and fresh. Her artist chose a softer pink lip color so the focus was kept on her eyes and beautiful skin.
STEP-BY-STEP:
STEP 1: Prepped skin with L’Oréal Paris Studio Secrets Professional Anti Dull Primer ($12.99). It helps makeup last and it creates a super smooth and flawless face. Followed with L’Oréal Paris True Match Super-Blendable Makeup ($10.95) for great coverage and consistency.
STEP 2: Dabbed skin with L’Oréal Paris True Match Super-Blendable Concealer ($8.95) where needed. This concealer goes on smoothly and offers buildable coverage. Set and finished skin with L’Oréal Paris Translucide Naturally Luminous Loose Powder in Translucent ($11.79) which has a beautiful fine texture.
STEP 3: For a radiant flush of natural color, applied L’Oréal Paris True Match Naturale Gentle Mineral Blush in Pinched Pink ($15.25) - it instantly wakes up your face.
STEP 4: Eyes were shaded with L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Eye Shadow Quad in Good Luck Charm ($7.95). The top lids were lined with L’Oréal Paris Le Kohl Pencil Smooth Defining Eyeliner in Café ($8.48) followed by a thin line of L’Oréal Paris Lineur Intense Felt Tip Eyeliner in Black ($6.50) right into the top lash line.
STEP 5: Applied L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Original Mascara in Black ($7.29) which is my tried and true favorite for instant volume and density.
STEP 6: To lend a natural, yet pink, sheen to the lips, applied a blend of L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Lipcolour in Tender Pink and Pink Lady ($8.95 each). The effect is soft and sexy.
JULIANNA MARGULIES (MAKEUP)
MAKEUP ARTIST: Molly Stern
INSPIRATION: Julianna chose a two-piece Chado Ralph Rucci gown. The overall look is stunning –it's 1960's meets NOW. Molly played along by creating a beauty look with a hint of nostalgia, while still keeping Julianna's makeup modern and fresh.
STEP-BY-STEP:
STEP 1: Molly first prepped Julianna's skin with L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Miracle Blur Finishing Cream ($24.99) to create a soft-focus finish
STEP 2: Next, she applied a blend of L’Oréal Paris Magic Lumi Primer ($12.95) and L’Oréal Paris True Match Super-Blendable Makeup ($10.95)
STEP 3: Molly kept cheeks looking naturally flushed with Laura Mercier Creme Cheek Color in Canyon ($24.00) and a dusting of NARS Blush in Sex Appeal ($28.00)
STEP 4: Molly primed Julianna's eyes with Laura Mercier's Eye Basics Base in Peach ($24.00) and intensified her shadow line with NARS Eyeshadow in Bali ($24.00)
STEP 5: For Julianna's mother-of-pearl-inspired lids, Molly relied on a combination of soft lavender, violet and peach found in L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Eye Shadow Quads in "Stacked Heels" and "What Happens in Vegas" ($7.95 each)
STEP 6: Molly defined the lash line by using L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Smoldering Eyeliner in Grey ($8.95) and then added a bit of sparkle by applying (via wet application) L’Oréal Paris Infallible Eye Shadow in Eternal Black ($7.95)
STEP 7: She curled her lashes with a Shu Uemura lash curler before applying two coats of L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Extra-Volume Collagen Mascara ($7.95)
STEP 8: Molly created Julianna’s creamy and nude bold pout by using a blend of L’Oréal Paris Color Caresse by Colour Riche Luminous Lipcolour in Sheer Linen ($9.99) and L’Oréal Paris Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stain in Pink Perseverance ($9.99)
JULIANNA MARGULIES (HAIR)
HAIRSTYLIST: Sebastian Scolarici
INSPIRATION: Sebastian created a modern interpretation of 60's-inspired volume to complement Julianna's black and lavender Chado Ralph Rucci gown. A simple headband helped keep the front of this look sleek and chic, while the back of hair was full of volume and cascading waves.
STEP-BY-STEP:
STEP 1: Sebastian prepped Julianna’s damp hair with L’Oréal Paris EverStyle Alcohol-Free Volume Boosting Mousse ($6.99). He also applied L’Oréal Paris EverStyle Alcohol-Free Root Lifting Spray ($6.99) to her roots for targeted volume at the crown
STEP 2: After blow-drying smooth with a round-brush, Sebastian separated Julianna's hair into 5-6 sections and curled individual pieces with a 1-inch-barrel curling iron
STEP 3: Each curl was temporarily set in place with a roller pin (while Julianna was in makeup)
STEP 4: Post-makeup, hair was released from roller pins and brushed through to create soft waves (versus a tight spiral); Sebastian worked a bit of L’Oréal Paris Advanced Haircare Smooth Intense Frizz Taming Serum ($6.99) into hair to smooth down any frizzies or flyaways
STEP 5: Next, hair was teased at the crown to create high-volume
STEP 6: A piece of black satin ribbon was used as a simple and chic headband to separate the look - keeping the front of hair sleek and back of hair voluminous
STEP 7: Sebastian finished the look by spraying a generous amount of L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray ($14.99) to lock in her style while leaving hair brushable. "I love that Elnett doesn't leave a film ... especially on dark hair like Julianna's," Sebastian says.
Stylist Tip: To recreate Julianna's gorgeous raven hair color at home, try L'Oréal Paris' Excellence Crème Hair Color - it comes in a variety of rich and sumptuous black shades ($8.99)
ANNE HATHAWAY (NAILS)
MAKEUP ARTIST: Tom Bachik
INSPIRATION: All eyes were on Anne Hathaway's nails as she accepted her award for "Best Supporting Actress" for her performance in "Les Miserables." To complement Anne's edgy-meets-glamorous gown, L'Oréal Paris Worldwide Nail Artist kept Anne's nails simple, chic and mod.
STEP-BY STEP: He used two coats of L'Oréal Paris Colour Riche Nail in I Will! ($5.99) before applying a few butterfly accents (a romantic but subtle touch) to Anne's middle and ring fingers (left hand) and the ring finger of her right hand. For Anne's toes, Tom added a layer of sparkle to Anne's gold base by using L'Oréal Paris Colour Riche Nail in a limited-edition shade from the Diamonds Collection, Sparklicious ($5.99).
