Safety Saturday: Recall on infant and child Tylenol, Motrin, and allergy medicines

Honolulu families that use infant or children's Tylenol, Motrin, Benadryl and Zyrtec should be aware that McNeil Consumer Healthcare has issued a voluntary recall of these products. To date, administration of these medications have not resulted in any injuries or illnesses but the company advises parents to discontinue their usage immediately.

The stated reason for the recall is because some batches may have an excess of the active product ingredients, while others contain inactive ingredients that have failed to meet company standards.

To find out if your medicine has been recalled, match the lot number to the reference chart published with this article.  The lot number will be above the brand name of the product.  Throw away any remaining product if you have a matching lot number.  Anyone with additional questions is advised to contact McNeil Consumer Healthcare directly at 1-888-222-6036 or at www.mcneilproductrecall.com.
