Saddle River Day defeated Northern Valley Demarest, 56-43, in the second round of the Bergen County Tournament.

Saddle River Day's Kayla Oge played a great game. She dominated inside the paint and went hard to the basket. She finished with 11 rebounds, 5 steals, 2 blocked shots, and 10 points. At the end of the first quarter SRD led 16-10.

Demarest's Brianna Tarabocchia is an all-around great player. She works inside for rebounds, she shoots from the outside, and can bring the ball up. She had 13 rebounds, 1 blocked shot, and 11 points. Tarabocchia said, "we went into the game knowing we had to fight and leave everything on the court because we had nothing to lose. Even though we lost, I think we played really well as a team. The slow start in the third quarter cost us the game."

Tarabocchia, having just transferred this year to Northern Valley Demarest from Saddle River Day, also shared, "it was a little weird playing against my old team, but I'm really happy at Demarest. I especially like playing for Coach Steffner because she is a really good coach."

With 5 minutes remaining in the half, Saddle River Day was winning 21-12. Shortly after, Izzy McMahon picked up her third foul and was subbed out. During this time period Demarest began to make a comeback. With 2:41 remaining they trailed 23-18 and shortened it within one point with 1:41 remaining, 23-22. They trailed by one at the half, 25-24.

Returning back to the floor in the third quarter, McMahon went to work. She had 4 assists, 2 steals, and 12 points. Danielle Deoul played great off the bench for SRD. She knows how to post up and clear space. She had 10 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal. At the end of the third quarter, SRD led 44-31.

Demarest's Victoria and Veronica Corcoran are both great shooters. Victoria had 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 assist. Veronica had 10 points, 5 rebounds, 5 steals, and 1 assist.

Saddle River Day will take on IHA in the next round.
