Sacred Balance and guests partner for rare concert

TORONTO – Sacred Balance will celebrate the release of its first album, a self-titled independent EP, on January 28, 2012. The Toronto/Montreal-based electro-visionary trip rock band will be at the El Mocambo at 9 p.m. to perform with special guest, Toronto composer, pianist and electronic musician, John Kameel Farah, and djembe artist Tim Gentle. Folk/rock singer-songwriter Carlo Meriano will open the night.

Recently recorded in Montréal's McGill studios, “Sacred Balance” features uniquely hand-painted sleeves made from recycled material. The album was professionally mixed by Nick Squire and mastered by Noah Mintz at Lacquer Channel Mastering (Toronto).

“This EP was in the works for a while now, involving many different artists and two different cities,” says Sacred Balance founder Pouya Hamidi. “So, I am extremely excited to finally release it to the public and share the event stage with such amazing Toronto performers as the keyboard virtuoso John Farah and talented opener Carlo Meriano.”

Sacred Balance was founded in 2008 and consists of Hamidi (keyboard, programming), Chloe Charles (vocals, lyrics), Neil Whitford (guitar), Mackenzie Longpre (drums), Kelly Lefaive (violin) and Andrew Roorda (Bass). The band has performed in many popular Toronto music venues and festivals.

The January 28 event will also feature an improvised video experience, courtesy of VJ Zum One.

Tickets for the concert are $10 and are available in advance online or at the door.

The El Mocambo is located at 464 Spadina Avenue, in Toronto.
