Sacramento has been chosen to host the USA Rugby versus Rugby Canada match on June 21th. The game will be held in the new Cal Expo Multi-Use Sports Field and will be broadcasted on NBC Universal with a scheduled 3:00 PM start time. Tickets for the game will go on sale April 15th. The Sacramento Sports Commission and the Sacramento Republic F.C. have partnered up to bring USA Rugby to the capital city. “We are excited that a match of this caliber will take place at the new stadium at Cal Expo, especially since rugby has long been part of Sacramento’s sports history,” said Mike Sophia, Director of the Sacramento Sports Commission. “Even better, this highly followed international match-up holds broad spectator appeal and also offers us the opportunity to showcase our beautiful city.”

This will be the first time USA Rugby has played a game in Sacramento and it's team (The Eagles) is ranked 18th in the World. Their opponent on June 21th is ranked 15th and the two teams have developed a fierce rivalry over the years. "The northern California region is a rugby hotbed and we're excited to have the Eagles play here in Sacramento," USA Rugby Events Director Jen Gray said. "The area has produced Eagles like Eric Fry, Blaine Scully and Louis Stanfill, with a number of others in the pipeline. The support from the Sacramento rugby community, along with support from our partners at the republic and Sacramento sports commission will ensure us a large turnout to help cheer on the Eagles."
