Sacramento Surge win on the road against Turlock 5-3

Sacramento Surge notch their first win of the 2013-2014 season with a victory on the road Friday night against the Turlock Express. The Express (2-6) have lost six games in a row after starting the season 2-0. Sacramento (1-7) win's their first game of the season and are on a two game winning streak (including their win last Saturday in the U.S. Open Cup tournament play).

Turlock opened the game with a goal by Pablo Lopez in the first period. In the second period the Surge came back by scoring two goals (Jason Martin & Jaime Portillo) to take a 2-1 lead at halftime. The Express tied up the game in the third period with a goal by Adrian Plascencia but Sacramento scored two goals (Jaime Portillo's second & Edson Sanchez) gaining a 4-2 advantage going into the fourth. Alen Espinoza scored the fifth goal of the game for the Surge and they hold on for a 5-3 win ending an eight game losing streak.

The Surge will travel to face-off against the Bay Area Rosal. Not only is this a league game but it will be for a spot in the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open Cup of Arena Soccer tournament.
