Sacramento Surge name Mark Bickham as their new head coach

The Sacramento Surge have named Mark Bickham as their new head coach. A former indoor soccer player (Tacoma Stars, Sacramento Knights, Milwaukee Wave, Canton Invaders, Denver Thunder) and a native of London, England; Bickham brings a world of experience to the young franchise. He replaces Jorge Fernandez who was a player/coach for the Surge during the 2013-2014 season. Fernandez scored seven goals and ten assists in 13 games) and led the team to a 3-13 record (a two win improvement over their 2012-2013 inaugural season).

Mark Bickham has made his name as a coach in the sport of soccer. During these past years, he has co-founded Starfire Sports and is currently coaching Ethos F.C. youth soccer club. Bickham was also an assistant coach for the San Jose Earthquakes' U-23 PDL squad and is looking forward to bringing that knowledge to the franchise. Things are looking up for the Sacramento Surge as the 2014-2015 season is fast approaching and they are looking to move up the standings and make a name for themselves in the Major Arena Soccer League.

The Surge will make their debut on the road this upcoming season on November 1st against their Route 99 rivals the Turlock Express. Sacramento will make their home debut on November 15th against the Seattle Impact. Details about the upcoming season and when you can purchase tickets will be released soon.
