The Sacramento Surge lost a real heart breaker Saturday night against the visiting Arizona Storm 7-6 in extra period over time. The Surge mounted an aggressive offense against the visiting Storm by scoring the first goal of the game. From then on it was a back and forth game with both teams matching one another with goals. Unlike last game's foul fest, the Surge were able to keep the blue cards down. Arizona earned six blue cards to Sacramento's four. Both teams received a yellow card for unsportsmanlike conduct in the fourth period which led to a major turning point in the game because the Surge were unable to capitalize on the Power Play Advantage.
The Surge were able to keep up with the Arizona Storm which had the rabid Sacramento fans inside the Off the Wall Soccer Complex on their feet in the finals seconds of the fourth period. The score was tied 6-6 and the game went into over time (P.A.S.L. rules are two extra periods and a shoot out if the score is still tied). But the game ended at 3:30 in the extra period when the Storm scored on a quick goal to seal the victory. Sacramento continues to improve on it's attacking schemes on offense but they need to tighten up on defense. They have greatly improved on their Power Play killing but they really need to take advantage of their Power Play opportunities when they get them.
Arizona Storm (5-8) head back on the road to face the San Diego Sockers (13-1) whilst the Surge (1-14) host the visiting Turlock Express (6-7) this Saturday at the Off the Wall Indoor Soccer Complex. Tickets for this Saturday's game or only $10 and they can be purchased at http://www.sacsurge.com or at the door. Kick-off starts at 8:00 P.M.
