The Sacramento Surge defeat the visiting Chico Bigfoot (a late replacement for the Tacoma Stars) 9-7 at the Off the Wall Indoor Soccer Complex Saturday night. The Surge opened the game by scoring a quick goal. Chico Bigfoot struck back by scoring two goals in the first period and one more in the second. In the third period, the Surge outscored the Bigfoot 3-2 making the game very interesting going into the fourth. Both teams at times had each other on their heels. This one would be a game of attrition going into the final period. Sacramento pushed the envelope by outscoring Chico 5-2 in the fourth. Sacramento's Patricio Tenorio scored four goals in the victory.
Sacramento finishes their inaugural season with a record of 2-14. The next season looks very promising for the Surge, they played competitively and were in many of their games. The team needs to tighten up its defense, work on attacking the goal, keep the blue cards inside the referees pockets and bring back most of the squad. With another season under their belt the Surge will be team to be reckoned with and they'll become contenders in the P.A.S.L. Pacific Division.
If you are looking for more indoor soccer action, the Premier Arena Soccer League (feeder to the P.A.S.L.) has a summer league that will start in a few months. For more details on the P.A.S.L. minor league check out http://www.arenaleague.com
