The Sacramento Republic F.C. defeats the Colorado Rapids Reserves 4-3 to win their first game on their new pitch at Bonney Field. Sacramento rebounds with the victory after losing last Saturday on the road to the Oklahoma City Energy. A crowd of over 8,000 packed the new soccer facility to witness their hometown heroes in action. Colorado loses again and will have to look elsewhere to get a "w" in the win column.

The game kicked off around 7:37 and the atmosphere was festive. Sacramento Republic F.C. started out by attacking Colorado aggressively right out of the starting gate. The Rapids turned the tide along with the momentum and took it to the Republic. Despite the attacking offense, Colorado was unable to take advantage because Sacramento played a tight defense along with excellent goal play from Jake Gleeson. The Republic played a little too loose on defense because they left open and opportunity for a back door goal. Colorado's Danny Mwanga broke away from the pack and raced down the pitch to take advantage of the one-on-one with Jake Gleeson and scored in the 15th minute with a rocket shot giving the Rapids a 1-0 lead.

Sacramento seemed to have awoken from the score because they took it to Colorado on the next possession and attacked the Rapids with a renewed vigor. Justin Braun tied the game up in the 20th minute making it a 1-1 game. As the half continued, both teams attacked each others defenses in ordered to break the stalemate. Rapids goalie Joe Nasco was not only peppered with a rain of shot-on-goals but he was heckled constantly by the Tower Bridge Battalion. Sacramento continued to aggressively attack Colorado's goalie and were able to draw him out of the box and Rodrigo Lopez scored in the 39th minute giving Sacramento a 2-1 lead. The Republic scored again in the 42nd minute when Rodrigo Lopez kicked a floater over Nasco's head making it a 3-1 game at the half.

The second half started out just like the first with Sacramento attacking Colorado's defense and goalie. The Rapids however were able to take advantage of Jake Gleeson who was perplexed and befuddled by the quick shot-on-goals coming from Colorado's offense. Gabriel Torres scored in the 50th minute and Charles Eloundo rocketed a shot passed Gleeson in the 53rd tying up the game at 3-3. Eloundo's game play was very impressive as he was all over the pitch making plays for his Rapids Reserve.

Sacramento continued to attack Colorado's defense but their defenders and goalie held their ground denying the Republic any scoring opportunities. The game soon became a defensive battle as both teams attacked each other aggressively but were unable score. The Republic broke the 3-3 draw when Mike Fucito scored for Sacramento in the 83rd minute going up 4-3. Colorado continued to attack Sacramento's defense. Aware of the Rapids explosive, the Republic didn't let up on them and continued to press forward until the clock counted down to zero.

With the win Sacramento improves to 7-4-2 and will be at home for their next game which will be on Thursday, June 26 against the Arizona United S.C. A few tickets for that game are available and they can be purchased at and to learn about upcoming Sacramento Republic F.C. games please visit
