Sacramento military digital scrapbooking families often find that digi scrapping is an easy and affordable way to honor their loved ones in the military. With Beale AFB about an hour's drive north of Sacramento, and Travis AFB an hour to the south, our area has its share of military families. Overseas and in the U.S., many of our troops, men and women alike, enjoy digital scrapbooking to document the sights and experiences of their service.
Digital scrapbooking is especially suited for military themes, because it is both affordable (even free), and is easily shared via email or online posting. Digi scrapping requires nothing more than a computer with graphics software or an Internet connection and digital photos, so that our troops overseas do not have to wait for care packages from home when they want to document their days with digital scrapbooking.
Kari Haravitch and her husband are from San Jose, and are both active duty Army Engineers in Iraq. Kari's blog, Army Scraps, offers scrapbooking supplies for military families.
Kari says, "There are so many great patriotic scrapbooking products out there, but not much specifically for military folks. Us military families...we're a unique bunch. We understand things like PCS, Airborne, ARCOM, and FRG. Non-military might understand these terms, but these are part of our military lives and are the things we take pictures of. So, I started ArmyScraps, as a way for military members to scrapbook their lives in a unique way." And she adds, "Though I haven't been able to create a lot of products recently (my husband and I are both in Iraq), I have tried! I have some great fans on the blog site who send emails with great military stories."
When you visit Kari's blog, be sure to take a minute to send greetings from Northern California!
Other digital scrapbooking tips: Besides great photos, scrapbook journaling is key to designing a memorable scrapbook for your man or woman in uniform. Don't cut corners here; keep good notes, label photos well, and scan letters and other memorabilia to add to your digital scrapbook.
When creating a military scrapbook for your loved one overseas, scan your children's drawings and letters and give each its own page with a date and title. Take a photo of your child holding the drawing to better associate that point in your child's development with the art work, and arrange the photo on the same scrapbook page as the drawing.
Digital scrapbooking is a great way for your military family to stay connected, share your children's milestones, and document family experiences for generations to come.

I love this article !! My husband is a SFC in the Army, so I really like the Army Scrap idea. We just had dinner with a fellow SFC who flew out to Iraq yesterday. We had good times together before he left, and will stay close with his family while he is deployed. Thanks for supporting our military men and women in such a thoughtful way !!!! You rock !!!!
