Sacramento man arrested for child porn possession

SACRAMENTO -- Yesterday, the Sacramento Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested 29-year-old Robert Michael Broadfoot for the possession of child pornography.

In August of 2011, Broadfoot was identified by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Miami, Florida, as someone who had received child pornography over the internet. On Oct. 11, 2011, Broadfoot’s computer was seized during the search of his residence. During the forensic examination of his computer, Broadfoot was found to have hundreds of photographs and videos depicting child pornography (some featuring girls as young as the age of eight).

According to Deputy Jason Ramos, spokesperson for the Sacramento County Sheriff, it is important that our children understand people take on other names, ages, identities on the computer and profess to be people that they're not. “Internet predators out there are looking for opportunities to victimize people,” Ramos said, “It's important to remember that no matter how secure you may think your transmissions are, every keystroke we make has a forensic fingerprint to it, that is stored forever and retrievable via the right means. Privacy is getting harder and harder to guarantee these days.”

Further investigation revealed Broadfoot provided private music instruction at children’s homes in the local area. Anyone with information in regards to Broadfoot is asked to contact the Internet Crimes Against Children task force at 916-874-3000.

The Internet Crimes Against Children task force is comprised of federal, state and local law enforcement investigators and managed by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.
