All-Star forward Kevin Love has another suitor. According to Yahoo Sports on Monday, the Sacramento Kings have informed the Minnesota Timberwolves that they are interested in trading for Love. The Kings, a franchise that has been struggling the last few seasons, said they are willing to trade for Love without the assurance that he will re-sign with them.

It would indeed be a bold move for the team as they are willing to give up their eighth overall pick in this year’s NBA draft along with other players the Timberwolves would be interested with to land Kevin Love. The Kings are a small-market team, but with Shaquille O’Neil as a part owner, the team may be able to lure other players to Sacramento and also believe they can sign Love to a long-term deal with prospects of teaming him up with DeMarcus Cousins.

The Kings would be a long shot since his other suitors are big market teams like the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets and Chicago Bulls. Coming off a 28-54 season, the Kings wouldn’t really appeal to Love who wants to be apart of a contending team. Although The Celtics, Knicks and Lakers also came off losing seasons, those teams have the resources to turn it around pretty quickly and they all have All-Star caliber players already in place.

The Kevin Love sweepstakes started when he said he plans to opt out of his contract in the summer of 2015. With the Timberwolves not having much confidence that they will be able to re-sign him, trade rumors started to emerge. Love will more than likely be able to choose where he wants to go since him having interest in signing a long term deal with the team of interest will be a major factor.
