The Sabres got started early on Friday, announcing that they have re-upped with center Cody McCormick on a three-year deal worth $3.6 million.
With the defense set after the additions of Robyn Regher and Christian Ehrhoff this week, the Sabres needed to address their lack of depth at the center position. Getting a deal with McCormick done before free agency officially began was a priority for the club, and it became their main task once the madness of the past two days subsided.
McCormick played in 81 of Buffalo's 82 games last season, scoring 12 times and logging 20 assists while piling up 142 PIMs. He'll center the third or fourth line, depending on if the Sabres can manage to land another center in free agency.
