The Buffalo Sabres visit the New York Islanders just once during the abbreviated 2013 NHL season: Saturday, February 9th (7 p.m.). The Sabres host the Isles at the First Niagara Center on Saturday, February 23rd (7 p.m.) and the regular season finale, Friday, April 26th (7 p.m.).
The Islanders, founded in 1972, have played their home games in Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum since their inception. Located at 1255 Hempstead Turnpike (State Rt. 24) in Uniondale, New York, the Nassau Coliseum seats over 16,000 for hockey. The second-oldest arena in the NHL (next to Madison Square Garden), the Islanders will be moving into the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York beginning in the 2015-16 season.
Nassau Coliseum does feature a number of brand-name concessions, complete with a map at the Coliseum’s website. Hungry fans will enjoy Subway, Nathan's Hot Dogs and Carvel Ice Cream as well as a number of brew houses located throughout the arena and the restaurants Doolin's Pub and Bistro 1255.
Tickets for the Sabres/Isles game are available through www.ticketmaster.com; prices range from $24 to $160 (plus taxes and fees).
