The Buffalo Sabres visit the Columbus Blue Jackets in Ohio on Tuesday, September 17th (7 p.m. face-off). The Sabres will revisit Columbus for a regular season game on Saturday, January 25th (7 p.m. face-off).
The Blue Jackets, whose name represents "patriotism, pride, and the rich Civil War history in the state of Ohio" according to the team's website, play their home games at Nationwide Arena, located at 200 W. Nationwide Blvd. in Columbus. The Arena seats just over 18,000 for hockey, and up to 21,000 for the numerous concerts and special events that come through the area. There are six levels to the Arena, and two 80-foot party suite towers, featuring three suites each and seating between 24 and 48 people each.
The concessions are run by Delaware North's SportService, featuring traditional arena items like hot dogs, pretzels, and popcorn, plus grill-themed concessions with barbecue pork and chicken sandwiches, and pizzeria-themed concessions with Papa John’s Pizza personal pizzas. There are also a number of Coldstone Creamery ice cream stands, Dippin Dots, and for something warmer and a touch of home, Tim Horton's.
Tickets for the Sabres/Blue Jackets match-up are available through www.ticketmaster.com, starting at $25 per seat. Columbus is approximately five hours' drive from the Buffalo area.
