On Thursday, Oct. 31, it was reported that Buffalo Sabres forward John Scott had been suspended for seven games by the NHL’s Department of Player Safety for an illegal check to the head to Boston Bruins forward Loui Eriksson during a game on Oct. 23.
The incident occurred 5:49 into the third period of the game, and Scott was assessed a five-minute match penalty and a game misconduct for the hit.
Under the terms of the NHL’s Collective Bargaining Agreement, Scott will forfeit $26,923.05 of his salary for this season, which will go to the NHL’s Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
Scott has already served three games of his suspension while waiting for his in-person hearing with NHL Disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan, which occurred on Thursday morning.
Scott will be eligible to return to the Sabres lineup on Friday, Nov. 8, when the team travels to Anaheim to face the Ducks at 10 p.m. Eastern (7 p.m Pacific).
