It appears that the WWE has found a potential opponent for Ryback at WrestleMania 29 on Sunday, April 7th. According to a March 5th report by WrestlingInc.com, the WWE is serious considering placing Ryback in a match against the recently returned Mark Henry. This possibility gained some traction at Monday's episode of RAW where the two big men stared down each other in the middle of the entrance way. Ryback was leaving the ring after defeating Cesaro and Mark Henry was on his way down to the ring to take on Zack Ryder.
Henry had been off of WWE TV for roughly 9 months before returning last month on RAW where he made a huge impact by attacking Daniel Bryan, Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara. Eventually, he showed up on SmackDown to cause more havoc. Henry would go on to earn a spot in the Elimination Chamber match on February 17th. He was the third man eliminated in the match. After his elimination at the hands of Orton, who he just defeated a week prior to earn the spot in this PPV match, Henry attacked the three remaining participants.
The WWE made it a point to get Mark Henry "over" with the WWE Universe by having him pick up where he left off prior to his hiatus. Henry had a dominant run as World Heavyweight Champion in mid to late 2011. He was a legit beast. He has the potential to be a solid champion once again, if the WWE decides to put the strap on him.
With Ryback's massive push slowing down a bit, the WWE needs a viable opponent that will help to continue to elevate Ryback into the world title/main event picture. Henry is that credible opponent and will make Ryback look like a star. This is the typical Vince McMahon "big man" match that has a lot of potential if it comes to fruition.
I can see Henry attacking Ryback on television these next few weeks to really build up this feud. This WM 29 match has the potential for a solid bout as both men have solid in-ring skills when booked the right way.
What do you guys think about this rumored undercard bout?
