Ryan Seacrest tweeted a photo of a Domino’s Pizza delivery person bringing a stack of pies to Times Square on Dec. 31. Ryan wrote, “Times Square is shut down but nothing stops a pizza delivery.” Seacrest was at Times Square to host “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve,” which aired on ABC to ring in 2013 with famous ball drop.
This is the first year Seacrest has hosted the special without Clark. Dick’s first New Year’s special aired on Dec. 31, 1972. Clark appeared on every special except one until his death on April 18, 2012. Dick was unable to appear on the Dec. 31, 2004 special because he suffered a stroke years before. Ryan began hosting with Clark the next year.
Seacrest tweeted a dedication to Clark on Dec. 31. In addition to the pizza photo, Ryan also tweeted photos throughout the day of the giant ball and preparation for the big event. While Ryan Seacrest and a slew of celebrity guests and performers rocked in 2013 without Dick Clark, he was clearly remembered fondly.
