Ryan Seacrest is not joining the ranks of gluten free celebrities (Video)

Ryan Seacrest briefly went gluten free for a few minutes this week. Seacrest tweeted his plans to go gluten free or “running from the gluten man,” as he called it, on Jan. 7.

According to Medical Network News Today, gluten is a protein found in the grains wheat, rye, barley and triticale (a cross of wheat and rye). Gluten intolerance is not a food allergy. It is a physical condition in which the gut cannot digest gluten proteins. They sit in the gut undigested and so the body treats them like a foreign invader. This causes gut irritation and interferes with the body's ability to absorb the nutrients in food. This can lead to nutrition deficiencies and a host of other problems, including chronic fatigue, neurological disorders, anemia, nausea, depression and rashes.

Many adults report feeling better after transitioning to a gluten-free diet. Most experts believe this is because removing gluten often results in a healthier diet overall.

Gluten free celebrities include:

  • Bill Clinton
  • Gyneth Paltrow
  • Elisabeth Hasselbeck
  • Rachel Weisz
  • Victoria Beckham
  • Ryan Phillippe
  • Jenny McCarthy
  • Zoey Deschanel

Ryan Seacrest didn’t get very far with his move to a gluten-free lifestyle. Ryan tweeted that he gave in and ate an everything bagel less than two hours after announcing his plans to cut out gluten.
