Ryan Seacrest honors Dick Clark on New Year’s Eve, talks about TV special

Ryan Seacrest is all set to host “Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve" TV special. On Dec. 31, he appeared on “Good Morning America” to promote the broadcast and honored his past co-host and dear friend, Dick Clark.

When asked about the 2013 New Year’s Eve TV special, Seacrest replied that he loves hosting the event for many reasons. “When I stand there, I kind of almost forget I’m on TV because it’s such an incredible, peaceful moment of unity in a world that’s so chaotic many times,” he explained on Monday.

Ryan Seacrest worked with Dick Clark on “Rockin’ New Year’s Eve” since 2005. At the 2010 Daytime Emmy Awards, he presented Clark with his Lifetime Achievement Award. On Monday, Ryan explained why he is such a huge fan of Dick Clark. “He was really instrumental in breaking out so many artists throughout the years,” he said. “He would introduce music to the world and he will never be forgotten for that.”

Dick Clark gave great advice throughout the years and Seacrest said that he plans on following much of it this New Year’s Eve. “The advice he always gave me was to make it seem as comfortable as possible. He said that if you’re comfortable on camera, those watching will be comfortable, even when there are uncomfortable moments.”

“American Bandstand” aired for 40 years and jump-started the careers of giant superstars, such as The Jackson 5, Cyndi Lauper, The Beach Boys, Cher and Chubby Checker. Tonight, millions of Dick Clark’s fans, including Ryan Seacrest, will fondly remember the country’s oldest teenager and the man who started it all.
