Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, Snoop Dogg star in animated film 'Turbo'

DreamWorks Animation announced Friday an all-star ensemble for its upcoming film “Turbo,” which includes Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson and Snoop Dogg, who is a Long Beach native.

Acording to the announcement on the DreamWorks Animation website, other cast members include Paul Giamatti, Michael Pena, Luis Guzman, Bill Hader, Richard Jenkins, Ken Jeong, Michelle Rodriguez, Maya Rudolph, Ben Schwartz and Kurtwood Smith.

Reynolds will star as a garden snail who dreams of racetrack glory. His need for speed makes him an outsider in his snail community, and he desires to escape the slow pace and follow in the footsteps of his hero Guy Gagne, five-time Indianapolis 500 champ. Turbo becomes hopeful when he obtains super speed in a freak accident, and he then journeys to fulfill his dream of racing in the Indy 500.

“Ryan Reynolds’ infectious enthusiasm and humor will bring life to the lead role of 'Turbo' and set the tone for this amazing roster of all-star voice talent,” said DreamWorks Animation Chief Creative Officer Bill Damaschke in the announcement. “This high-octane journey will take audiences on the race of their lives and completely re-define the traditional motion of moving at a snail’s pace!”
