The Husson University Eagles baseball team scored five runs in the top of the first inning on Monday afternoon.
That was plenty of run support for Ryan Rebar.
Rebar, who earned the 2013 Mr. Maine Baseball winner for his high school career at Foxcroft Academy, pitched five shutout innings to lift the Eagles to a 14-3 victory over Lesley at Auburndale, Florida.
Rebar only allowed one hit and three walks, while striking out five.
Kyle Bishop hit a three run homer to spark the first inning rally.
Benjamin McLain also hit a run scoring double during the inning.
Rebar struck out four batters in the first two innings.
Husson (1-1) took advantage of six walks to score three runs during the top of the third inning.
J.T. Whitten capped off a five run fourth inning, when he ripped a three run double.
While the Eagles offense was having a big day, Rebar kept doing his thing on the mound.
The only hit allowed by Rebar came with one out in the fifth inning.
Bishop finished going 2-2. with a walk, and two runs scored. Whitten had two hits and four RBI.
Brandon Gendreau had two hits and three runs scored for the Eagles.
Husson softball split two games down in Florida on Monday. They defeated Geneva 5-3 after falling to Wheaton 12-5.
