Ryan Lochte wins first gold for USA at London 2012 Olympics!

Swimmer Ryan Lochte of the United States of America has just won the first gold on Day One of the London 2012 Olympic Games!

Swimmer Ryan Lochte will take home with gold for the Men's 400m Individual Medley, clocking a time of 4:05.18, beating out Michael Phelps, who did not quite make the podium this time around with a time of 4:09.28.

The silver medal goes to Thiago Pereira of Brazil, while Kosuke Hagino of Japan gets the bronze, clocking in 4:08.86 and 4:08.94 respectively.

Attired in his grey and black track jacket, Lochte was presented with the gold medal on a purple ribbon as well as a bouquet with mauve and pale green roses fastened with a purple ribbon.

Meanwhile the media is capitalizing on the swimmer’s rivalry between Phelps and Lochte, with Lochte recently responding to a question about how he would write his own headline: Ryan Lochte takes over! Well said…

Missed live coverage of the winning? The Men's 400m Individual Medley will air in the Atlanta metro area at 8 p.m. on Saturday on channel 11.

Congratulations to Ryan Lochte on winning his first medal at the London 2012 Olympics! You sure do look great in gold…
