Ryan Gosling apparently had a busy weekend in the Motor City. He was spotted at a Starbucks in Grosse Pointe on Sunday, where a few fans tweeted that they saw him. Ryan was also spotted at Cafe d'Mongos in Detroit on Friday, where he went to offer the owner and his friend, Larry Mongo, a spot in his new movie, How To Catch a Monster. Gosling has been close with Mongo since 2011, when he was in the area filming The Ides of March.
How To Catch a Monster is scheduled to start filming in the Detroit area soon, and it will be Gosling's directorial debut. He will be receiving some of the film incentives money towards his film, as well. Saoirse Ronan recently announced that she has signed on to the movie, and Gosling is still in the process of casting some of the main roles - click here to see the casting website and what roles are still open.
I was fortunate enough to be an extra in The Ides of March when it filmed here in March 2011, and it was quite an experience. We filmed all day at a church near Cranbrook's campus, and I got a few glimpses of Gosling throughout the day, as well as Philip Seymour Hoffman, George Clooney (who directed), and Gregory Itzin.
