“Gangster Squad” actor Ryan Gosling has compared his abs and biceps to owning a pet because of all the care they need to stay in shape.
“Anyone can get those if they work at it. It's just a lot of exercising. And it's really quite pointless, because you go to a gym and you lift a heavy thing so a muscle grows, but the only thing the muscle can actually do is to lift that heavy thing,” Gosling joked in a Jan. 14 interview with the Herald Sun.
Gosling added that the reason why he calls his abs “pets” is because, in the end, they “don’t do anything useful,” he said.
“But you have to feed them and take care of them otherwise they'll go away,” Gosling said. “I feel a bit goofy having them, to tell you the truth.”
Gosling’s abs even got the attention of “Pitch Perfect” actress Anna Kendrick. On Monday, Kendrick tweeted: “Ugh – NEVER going to a Ryan Gosling movie in a theater again. Apparently masturbating in the back row is still considered ‘inappropriate.’”
