Actor Ryan Gosling might look like the last person in the world you would find sitting at home and knitting, but he actually loves it. While filming a scene from “Lars and the Real Girl,” he found himself in a room full of knitters. They filmed the entire day and during the down time, Gosling used his time wisely and took a lesson.

The actor was recently interviewed for the January/February 2013 issue of GQ Australia. When asked about the day of knitting he said, “It was one of the most relaxing days of my life.”

Not worrying about stereotypes or what others think, Gosling took to the hobby like a champ. Actors spend a lot of time waiting around as scenes are lit, cameras are moved into position and other details are put into place. Knitting is a great way to make use of that time.

Gosling went on to regale the benefits of knitting, "If I had to design my perfect day, that would be it,” he said. “And you get something out of it at the end. You get a nice present. For someone who wants an oddly shaped, off-putting scarf.”

Most people do not know that many men knit and there are websites and forums devoted to them.

To any ladies who knit, learning that heartthrobs also enjoy the hobby makes these fellows that much more fascinating. Surely, anyone would love the gift of an oddly shaped scarf if it came from someone like Gosling.
