A familiar face will be returning to “General Hospital” in the role of Lucas Jones. As Soaps In Depth reports on December 10, Ryan Carnes will be returning to the show in a role he played on the soap in 2004 through 2005.

Bringing Lucas back serves a few purposes. Not only will Bobbie Spencer’s adoptive son be returning to Port Charles, he will reunite with his sister Carly and meet the sister he didn’t know he had in Sam. He will also get to know his biological father Julian Jerome.

Executive producer Frank Valentini confirmed the news and expressed his admiration of Carnes.

“Yes, he’s coming back. I got to meet him the other day. I like him a lot.”

How will Lucas react to his biological father being alive and how will Julian react to the son he never knew he had?

Another purpose Lucas serves is as a possible love interest for Felix. Last time Lucas was in Port Charles, he came out as gay in a storyline the show didn’t explore as deep as they should have. Lucas may drive a wedge between Felix and Brad.

Lucas Jones is a character that has a lot of ties on the show. He’s the brother of both Carly and Sam, the nephew of Luke Spencer and Frisco Jones, the biological son of Julian Jerome, and cousin of Kiki, Lulu, Lucky, and Maxie as well as the uncle of Michael, Morgan, Josslyn, and Danny.

There is no word as to the first airdate or Ryan Carnes.
