According to a Jan. 29 report from MMA Junkie, UFC star Ryan Bader would like to fight Mauricio "Shogun" Rua before the legendary Brazilian calls it a career.
Bader also wants a crack at Forrest Griffin and other UFC icons.
"As far as calling one person in particular out, not really," Bader said. "Just fights that make sense to get me closer and closer to my ultimate goal of getting a title shot and getting a belt. I just have to keep taking the time. It really doesn't matter to me as long as it's someone who gets me closer to my goal.
"There's Shogun, but he's coming off a loss right now. I want to fight all those guys before they're done, the Shoguns, the Forrest Griffins, those guys. I really haven't thought about it. I have to look and see who's left, but guys like Shogun, I want to fight him sometime in my career. I don't turn down fights, so whatever they say."
Bader is coming off a victory over Vladimir Matyushenko at UFC on FOX 6, a cool submission win that earned him a $50,000 bonus.
"I felt really comfortable in there," Bader said. "This was the most comfortable I've ever felt in a fight. I just feel better. I've been really concentrating on (jiu-jitsu and boxing) to become a more complete fighter. If I feel comfortable in there and I can fight the way I do in the gym, I'm going to be hard to beat. I'm starting to feel really good in these fights."
With the win, Bader improved to 8-3 in his UFC career.
