RVCC Chorale to present Holiday Concert

The RVCC Chorale will perform its annual holiday concert Saturday, December 4, at 8 p.m. The performance will be held in the Welpe Theatre at Raritan Valley Community College’s Branchburg Campus.

The Chorale is composed of current and former RVCC students, as well as members of the community. It is conducted by John Sichel, a full-time faculty member in the College’s Visual and Performing Arts Department. Heidi Lowy-Pease is the accompanist. The Chorale will be joined by tenor soloist Richard Slade, who has performed with the New York City Opera, the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players, and Western Wind.

The program will feature a performance of the cantata “Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern,” by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750), a luminous interpretation of the Lutheran hymn “How brightly shines the Morning Star.” The program also will include works by Brahms, Rachmaninov and Praetorious; traditional carols from around the world; and an audience carol sing-along.
