The Griswold family packed up and headed out for Wally World in the 1983 version of National Lampoon’s Vacation. The Vacation franchise grew, with European Vacation, Christmas Vacation, Vegas Vacation and even National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation 2. The family has grown and so has the franchise, even into 2013.
The original Griswold family vacation was led by father Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) and mother Ellen Griswold (Beverly D’Angelo). Vacation started out with Audrey and Rusty Griswold, played by Dana Barron and Anthony Michael Hall, respectively. However, in the European Vacation addition, the roles of Rusty and Audrey were filled by Jason Lively and Dana Hill. As the series of comedy movies grew by number, the roles for Audrey and Rusty changed for every film. In the latest addition, the role of Rusty hasn't been released at this time.
In 2013, the Griswold family crashes on to the silver screen again but this time Rusty will be at the wheel. Rusty has grown up and has become a father himself. The new comedy will introduce a Planes, Trains and Automobiles sense of humor and will feature a role left open for Chevy Chase, as grandfather Griswold.
National Lampoon’s Vacation is given a facelift by David Dobkin of The Wedding Crashers fame as producer.
Rusty Griswold puts the family in the car for a 2013 trip to Wally World before the infamous theme park shuts its doors forever. Hopefully grandpa (Chevy Chase) doesn't die so Rusty won't have to tie him on the hood of the car.
Look for the release of Vacation in theaters near you in 2013.
