Looking for a romantic getaway close to home? A reunion with friends or family? A relaxing retreat among the beauties of nature? A gourmet dining experience? A little pampering? You’ll find all that and more at the Inn and Spa at Cedar Falls, a one-of-a-kind experience in the awe-inspiring beauty of the Hocking Hills in southeast Ohio .
Located between Old Man’s Cave and Cedar Falls—two of the most popular attractions in the Hocking Hills State Parks—this “secluded retreat of luxurious simplicity” began in 1985 with the vision of Anne Castle, who wanted to provide a place where people could retreat to a natural setting. She was eventually joined in the endeavor by others, and her daughter Ellen and son-in-law Terry now carry on as innkeepers of this “green certified” business. It has one possible downside, however: there is enough to enjoy on the grounds of the inn that you may have to pull yourself away from the ample pleasures there in order to enjoy the surrounding sights.
A variety of lodging choices are available to travelers, from charming cottages and cabins to nine guest rooms lavishly furnished with antiques and delightful personal touches. The spacious cabins are furnished with whirlpool tubs, gas stoves, and porch swings on a secluded deck. The cottages feature similar amenities, but without the cooking facilities (a small refrigerator and coffee service are included, though).
The Kindred Spirits Tavern greets guests entering the dining wing of the inn, and attaches to an open kitchen, through which diners walk to get to the restaurant and patio dining areas. The fare at the restaurant is first class.
True to its name, the inn also includes a spa on the grounds, offering massages, wraps, treatments, and other pampering services to men and women, couples and groups.
The Inn and Spa at Cedar Falls even provides group meeting rooms and conference support. Fragrant gardens and meditation spots enhance the experience, and it is all within a few miles of the accessible beauty of Ash Cave, Rock House, Conkle's Hollow, and the other attractions of the Hocking Hills.
