Russians dominate IPC biathlon World Cups Saturday in Canmore

According to www.albertaworldcup.com, Russian athletes won 15 of a possible 18 medals Saturday at the International Paralympic Committee's World Cup biathlon events in Canmore.

Russians swept the podium in the women's 6km event for biathletes who were visually impaired, the women's 6km sit skiing event, and the men's 7.5km event for those who were visually impaired.

In the women's 6km event for biathletes who were visually impaired, Iuliia Budaleeva won gold, followed by Mikhalina Lysova in second, and Elena Remizova in third. In the women's 6km sit skiiing event, Marta Zaynullina won gold, followed by Svetlana Konovalova in second and Nadezda Andreeva in third. In the men's 7.5 km event for those visually impaired, Nikolay Polukhin won gold, followed by Vladimir Udaltcov in second and Stanislav Chokhlaev in third.

In the men's 7.5 km sit skiing biathlon event, Irek Zaripov of Russia won gold, followed by Kozo Kubo of Japan in second and Aliaksandr Davidovich of Russia won bronze.

In the men's 7.5 km standing biathlon event, Azat Karachurin of Russia won gold, followed by Nils-Erik Ulset of Norway in second and Kirill Mikhaylov of Russia in third.

Finally in the women's 6km standing biathlon event, Alena Kaufman won gold, followed by Natalia Bratiuk of Russia in second and Momoko Dekijima of Japan in third.
