The origins of the Russian meteor has been found after studying the trajectory of photo's taken of the object in the sky. The meteor injured over 1000 people in Russian earlier this month.
The path was determined by scientists and then traced from orbit around the sun.
"It certainly looks like it was a member of the Apollo class of asteroids. Its elliptical, low inclination orbit, indicated a solar system origin, most likely from the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.” Stated Dr. Stephen Lowry of the University of Kent.
Right now skiers are scavenging pieces of the space rock and selling it online for $16000 or more. Guides are offering tours of the area as well.
