Russia warns U.S. over Syria attack. Foreign minister Sergei Lavrov, warned against military action in the region. According to NBC News on Aug. 26, 2013, repeated the comments of the Russian foreign ministry referring to the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq 10 years ago.
'If anybody thinks that bombing and destroying the Syrian military infrastructure, and leaving the battlefield for the opponents of the regime to win, would end everything - that is an illusion,' Lavrov said.
Russia warns U.S. on the heels of Syrian President Assad who compared an attack on his country with the Vietnam War experience. He also denied the accusations of using chemical weapons on his own people.
Even though Russia warns U.S., President Obama has not yet decided what action, if any, to take yet. He is awaiting the outcome of the findings of the U.N. inspectors. They are only trying to determine if chemical weapons were used in Syria, not by whom.
Secretary of State John Kerry accused Syria of using chemical weapons on its wn people. He also hinted at a military response as a consequence for this action. Speaking for the President, Kerry said that there needed to be some "accountability."
