I wish Russia would just shut up. Tempting Western intervention into Syria with dire warnings of starting a shooting war is about as irresponsible and just plain stupid as one could get.
I'm sure western nations are discussing how to handle Putin's latest bellicose move. And, what are we arguing over anyway, Syria?
The worst thing that France, the U.S., Britain or anyone else can do contemplating intervention because Assad may or may not have used chemical weapons, is to run in there and show support for the rebel side against the Syrian government.
Well, John McCain might think it’s a good idea but the rest of us who really understand that we have no one to protect there, have no intention of going in there to do anything.
Obama, like Putin understands nothing in that part of the world. The American president, who is way over his head and is probably praying for 2016 to come so he doesn't have to do this anymore, dug his own hole by making that cowboy line in the sand gesture last year. What was it, red?
And now Putin is calling his bluff. Over Syria, no less.
This is the most poorly handled world crisis since the assassination of Arch Duke Ferdinand actually started World War I
You have the Syrian regime coalition with Hezbollah and Iranian troops on one side and the rebels with al-Queda, and other like minded Jihadist groups on the other. Both trying to kill each other and both succeeding if we, the Russians and everyone else just stay out of it.
There are no good guys over there in Syria, both sides are enemies of both Russia and the west. The best thing we can do is to leave it alone. Let it play out and see where the chips fall. For every dying fighter on either side is one less one of our guys is going to have to risk his life to kill in battle.
That to me is a good thing.
