Russia starting WW3: Ukraine PM insists Russia 'wants to start World War 3'

Russia starting World War 3 is what Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said on Friday. He charged that Ukraine is Moscow's target in taking over its militarily and political. Yatsenyuk compared Russia's behavior to an "armed gangster" approach. This could all start an "armed conflict in Europe," CNBC reports April 25.

"Russia behaves as an armed gangster, but the time will come when the gangster will be hit in the face," Yatsenyuk said Friday. "The aggressive efforts of the Russian military on Ukraine's soil will lead to a conflict on European soil."

USA Today reports that the prime minister accused Russia of engineering eastern Ukraine in order to interfere with the Ukrainian presidential elections set for May 25. The nation will vote to replace former president Viktor Yanukoovych.

Russia starting WW3 has been a headline for months now. Things escalate as more uproar continues. Pro-Russian protesters have taken full control of important buildings in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region. They demand a vote on the region being part of Russia. Ukraine officials were able to take back control of some of the buildings after separatists were accused of killing a pro-Kiev official.

Ukraine's Defense Military said that one of their military helicopters exploded Friday at an airfield after a grenade-launcher hit it. A few weeks ago that airfield was overrun by pro-Russian protesters. Three of them were wounded when the Ukrainian army fought back. According to the report, hundreds of locals blamed the army for firing.

An investigation by the Defense Ministry hasn't resulted in any information being released as to who may have instigated the attack. The Russian military has begun new ground and air exercises near the Ukrainian border.

It's possible President Obama will meet with European leaders to discuss additional sanctions on Russia. No official announcement has been made on this.

Secretary of State John Kerry said the way things are going with the Russia, there will be consequences for it globally.

"If Russia continues in this direction, it will be not just a grave mistake, it will be an expensive mistake," Kerry told reporters. "The world will make sure costs for Russia will only grow."

Will Russia start WW3 or will sanctions and overall global disapproval eventually make an impression on the country?
