You may know Russell Westbrook as a guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder (OKC), but off the court you may know him for his eclectic style choices; that is why Barneys was interested in dawning a new men's clothing line with his creative choices titled of course "Russell Westbrook XO Barneys New York."
The Long Beach, California native launched his line in stores in New York City and online Thursday, July 17 and his menswear is filled with incredible colored patterns and Jordan brands often seen on the 6'3'' powerhouse.
The menswear collection includes other brand favorites such as Marcelo Burlon County of Milan, Naked & Famous, Want Les Essentiels de la Vie and many more.
In an interview with Fox Sports on July 18, the NBA star talked about how he does not buy expensive clothing often and how he loves to shop straight off of the sales rack and also mentioned how he did not delegate pricing when working for the legendary Barneys:
I may look at it, see how much it costs and then decide if I'm going to get it or not".--"Definitely. That was a big thing," he said about deciding prices for the line. "But also, if it's in Barney's ... it's got to be higher than your normal."
The 25 year old fashion player explained that he was not into fashion as a child, but he some how managed to grow a successful sunglass line called "Westbrook Frames" that was sought after by many buyers, but Westbrook says, "There's no better place than Barneys."
The very Californian style has turned heads of fans and athletes and we are all awaiting for much more from his unique style:
I just feel like I have my own style, a lot of guys have stylists and things, which I don't. ... It's not something that I have to do, it's something I like to do."
It is no wonder that the sales rack is the best place to shop from for Westbrook because the basketball athlete says he never wears anything twice, in fact he gives his clothing away right after he wears them as reported in the interview.
It is no wonder that Westbrook won a Kid's Choice Sports Award for being the "King of Swag" along with a team award for having the best fans; Russell W. did not disappoint fans when he showed up in a gold and black patterned top and his killer frames.
Other than being best dressed, Westbook won an ESPY on Wednesday for "Best Comeback Athlete" after having three knee surgeries in the less than a year and was one of the lead players last season.
Not too mention, Westbrook was also named Brand Ambassador for Zenith Watches earlier this year, which clearly shows that the fashion industry loves him.
