Canadian comic Russell Peters is getting for his first starring role in a major Hollywood production.

Peters has joined the cast of Duncan Jones' sci-fi film, Source Code. Starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Vera Farmiga, Michelle Monaghan and Jeffrey Wright follows a participant in a government program who inhabits the body of an unknown commuter living and reliving a terrorist attack on a train until he can find out the culprit. Peters, already set to play a comic character on the train, found his role expanded with additional dialogue and scenes. It will be interesting to see how Peters' racially based comedy, will translate in a big screen production.

With filming already underway in Montreal, Peters has had to postpone some of his spring concert dates in Australia, New Zealand and Las Vegas, rescheduling them in May.

The film we be Jones' sophomore effort, following his critically acclaimed debut Moon. There is no release date set yet, but expect the film to hit theaters sometime in 2011.
