Russell Brand slams Sean Hannity, who jabs with Katy Perry failed marriage quip

Russell Brand slams Fox News anchor Sean Hannity telling him to think like a human being. Brand responded to Hannity’s response to his criticism on Hanity’s coverage of Gaza on Friday, according to the Huffington Post on August 2.

Russell Brand slams Sean Hannity for just about everything he had to say about Brand and a guest that Hannity interviewed.

The two have apparently embarked on a war of words, and it is not clear yet who is going to get the last word in. Brand had a whole lot of words to share in his detailed 13-minute response to Hannity which is posted on YouTube and can be seen above in the video.

Every word of Hannity’s reply was detailed by Brand, not forgetting to mention a thing. He told Hannity that he had an “idiot” living in his head. When all was said and done, Brand had a closing paragraph that suggested Hannity had lost himself and he needed to come back to humanity.

The Business Insider reports that this all stems from Brand taking offense to the way Hannity treated a Palestinian guest on his Fox News show. Yousef Munayyer, the executive director of the Jerusalem Fund, was Hannity’s guest. Hannity said to Munayyer, “what part of this can’t you get through your thick head,” which is an unkind way to treat any guest whether you agree with him or not.

Brand picked up on this and said that one of the definitions of a terrorist is “using intimidation to reach your goals.” He then asked, “Who in that situation was behaving like a terrorist? Using intimidation, bullying, being unreasonable? Sean Hannity that is where the terrorism is coming from.”

Brand voiced his opinion about Hannity the first time around and Hannity came back calling Brand “dumb” and “ignorant.” This latest response from Brand turns up the volume a bit on how he feels Hannity was way off base with both his opinions on Brand and his thoughts on Hamas. Hannity asked Munayyer if this was a “terrorist organization.”

Brand starts off calling this an “online spat” and it appears that Hannity hit a sore spot when calling him a “D-list” actor “better known for his failed marriage with pop singer Katy Perry.” This is something Brand reiterates in the YouTube video.

Brand, who is a comedian, has been known to push the envelope a bit in an attempt to conjure up laughter. He did this Youtube critiquing of Hannity complete with comical face expressions. Whether this was deliberate or not, the jury is still out on that one!

He mocks Hannity’s voice and tells Hannity via this video, “if you are going to educate someone, don’t mispronounce basic components of the English language.” It is a bit hard to follow Brand at times with his strong British accent, especially when he starts to rant and doesn’t come up for air.

Hannity says that women and children were used as human shields and Brand adamantly states there is no evidence of that ever happening. He said “no one there has said that has happened.” The video goes on as Brand seemingly picks each sentence of Hannity’s apart. He does end on a kinder note saying:

"Sean, you're a human being. Come back to humanity. You've lost yourself, mate. Tonight when you go home, look in the mirror for a little while, take a deep breath, remember how you were as a child, remember how you feel about the people you love, remember that all human beings everywhere, they have those sensations and those feelings, try and speak from a perspective of love not from vengeance and hatred."

Is there another round left in this public online war? Only time will tell, but it is hard to believe that either of the two will let the other have the final word. In that case, this could just be the beginning of a new weekly series!
