The Russell Athletic Bowl 2013 live stream and television start time arrives on Saturday, Dec. 28, as two teams once mentioned among possible BCS contenders will face off. The Miami Hurricanes started their season looking strong, and after an early upset win over Florida, many believed they were the real deal. Louisville had a very strong season, losing just once back on Friday, Oct. 18 to UCF. With Teddy Bridgewater at the helm, the No. 18 team now looks to close out their season with a big bowl win. The latest of the televised and live stream college bowl games on the schedule comes to fans via the ESPN networks.
An ESPN.com report from Dec. 28 notes that this will be Louisville’s final game in the American conference, as they’ll be joining Miami in the ACC next season. This is also Teddy Bridgewater’s final game before he heads to the NFL, where many expect him to be one of the top picks in the upcoming 2014 NFL Draft. With 3,523 yards and 28 touchdowns on 268-of-382 completed passes, he certainly qualifies as one of the top choices for teams in need of a QB, and analysts predict he’ll be a top 10 pick.
For his grand finale, Bridgewater will try to lead his Cardinals to a bowl game win over the Miami Hurricanes, who enter this game at 9-3 overall and 5-3 in the ACC. Hurricanes head coach Al Golden said of the QB his team will be facing on Saturday evening:
"This is a very talented young man. He has great command on the offense... He has speed, good corps of receivers, knows how to distribute the football, doesn't make many mistakes with the football, can move in the pocket. It's going to be a great challenge for our corners and safeties."
Bridgewater is a Miami native, making the game, to be played in Orlando, that much more special for he and his family. Twenty-two other teammates are also from the area, where Bridgewater originally committed to play for the Hurricanes, before eventually settling on Louisville.
Entering this game, the two teams both average over 35 points per game, but the Cardinals’ defense has been extra stingy, allowing opponents just 12.4 points per game. Of note for the Hurricanes, they’ve gone 3-2 in road games and 6-1 at home, but dropped three straight games at one point this past season, even though they were ranked as high as No. 7 at one time. Louisville has lost just once, and only by 3 points, although some might argue their level of competition wasn't comparable to some of the other top-ranked teams throughout the polls.
Odds makers have Louisville as the favorites in today’s game. The Cardinals first opened at 3 1/2 point favorites and have since risen as high as 6 1/2 at some books. The over/under for this game is set at a total of 59 points at various books. Weather is expected to be mostly cloudy with a 30% chance of showers and temperatures in the low 70’s at kickoff time.
Saturday's Russell Athletic Bowl featuring Miami vs. Louisville has a scheduled start time of 6:45 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
