Britian's "toughest journalist" Jeremy Paxman thought it would be easy as pie - or krimpets in this case - to make a fool of Hollywood's lanky, goofy Russel Brand.
But what he and many others around the globe discovered is that this wiry, smooth-talking Brit has razor sharp wit and some key insights to politics. Paxman almost starts interrogating Brand to explain a new government system to which Brand sharply points out the absurdity of that reality in 5 minutes in a hotel room.
Regardless of your political views and no matter which way you lean, this video sensation is spreading like social media wildfire. For once, Democrats, Republicans and Independents can nod their head in agreement. I was shocked myself to agree with someone who used to be a heroin addict and married to bubble gum princess Katy Perry. But with the flowing cadence of his very well spoken (and the nice British accent doesn't hurt either) carefully crafted retorts, I start to wonder if Brand could surmount the disgust of working for the "man" and would make a good politician himself someday.
His awkward, jittery and defensive body language speaks volumes of the onslaught of rapid-fire questioning these political heads enjoy putting people in that bind - on the spot to purposefully trip them up. But Brand turns out to be a highly articulate intelligent Hollywood being. Who knew? And maybe it is time for a revolution...
