Russian bruiser Ruslan Provodnikov will defend the WBO light welterweight belt against undefeated challenger Chris Algieri on June 14 at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, Long Island.

The 30-year-old Provodnikov (23-2, 16 KOs) most recently exited the squared circle in October after punishing Mike Alvarado into submission to capture the title.

Provodnikov, who was controversially outscored by Timothy Bradley in March 2013, has become more skilled under the tutelage of renowned trainer Freddie Roach.

A relentless attacker who possesses a granite chin and cement fists, the “Siberian Rocky” is supremely confident and in tremendous physical condition.

Comparatively, the 30-year-old Algieri (19-0, 8 KOs) is a relatively inexperienced pugilist who has trumped a host of tomato cans.

However, also an unblemished kickboxer, Algieri is a native New Yorker who will have the support of fans.

To remain competitive, the 5-foot-11 Algieri must keep the 5-foot-6 Provodnikov at an honest distance.

Ultimately, regardless of any tactics, Provodnikov will manage to penetrate Algieri’s defense and land crippling punches.

Expect Ruslan Provodnikov to knock Chris Algieri onto Queer Street inside of eight rounds later this spring in a Gotham suburb.
