Rush has added to their long list of laurels, winning an induction into the 2014 Ultimate Classic Rock Hall of Fame. The legendary Canuck prog-rockers earned the honour after a month long tournament held in May by the popular U.S. based classic rock music website.

According to a news release posted June 2 at UltimateClassicRock.com, the Toronto-based power trio won by a surprisingly narrow margin, taking 50.8 of the vote in the final round of the vote to edge out fellow prog-rockers Kansas. Rush also faced tough opponents in earlier rounds, narrowly defeating Judas Priest and Journey to reach the finals.

Kansas posted upset victories during the tournament over powerhouse rock acts Kiss and AC/DC to enter the final round. Other artists eliminated in earlier rounds included Detroit rocker Ted Nugent and and veteran U.K. rockers Bad Company, All votes were cast by readers of by readers of Ultimate Classic Rock.

The 2013 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees are currently on hiatus for the year following their hugely successful Clockwork Angels Tour, which ran from Sept. 7, 2012 - Aug. 4, 2013. Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson recently revealed the band has plans in the works for a world tour to kick off in the spring of 2015.

Rush celebrated the 40th anniversary of their classic 1974 self-titled debut album with a new vinyl boxset, titled "Rush ReDISCovered," which hit shelves April 29. Re-mastered at Abbey Road studios by engineer Sean McGee, the set includes: the original art jacket, a rare reproduction of the original 1974 Canadian retail poster, individual Moon Records publicity 5x7 photos, a 12x12 Rush Family Tree poster, a download card for a free digital copy and is pressed on audiophile 200 gram vinyl.
