Rush Limbaugh
All week, intrepid bloggers have been trying to trace the source of two "racist" quotes attributed to Rush Limbaugh -- quotes which poisoned the atmosphere to the point where he was dropped from a bid to purchase the NFL's St. Louis Rams.
Now comes word that the quotations may have been added to Rush Limbaugh's Wikipedia entry by someone using a computer at a liberal New York law firm.
A letter writer to columnist Mark Steyn writes:
The quotes were added by a user with the IP address of 69.64.213.146. This address has been used mostly to make changes to the [Wikipedia] article about Rush, but also Karl Rove, Sean Hannity,.. James Dobson and Sara Palin from 2005 until earlier this year.
While others have noted this in various forums, no one seems to have made the connection that this IP address is used as a gateway by the law firm Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP (...) that all users from that IP address come from the pbwt.com domain.)
So American Thinker looked into the firm and reports:
The firm provides a wide array of legal services with a broad spectrum of politically correct causes served.
No doubt by the end of today, various forensic data auditors will have investigated and more information will be revealed.

This is completely false.
69.64.213.146 is one of hundreds of addresses belonging to RCN NEW YORK COMMUNICATIONS, LLC which provides internet access services to thousands of public customers. RCN is simply an internet service provider much like Charter or America Online.
This pbwt.com (Belknap Webb & Tyler) uses a dedicated IP Address, 167.68.29.177 which is not associated with RCN at all.

This is interesting. Took me less than five minutes to discover all the information I cite in my previous article. Unfortunate for those "intrepid bloggers" what they are reporting is bogus, is fake, is deceit.
RCN is made an innocent victim of this wrath of intrepid bloggers who are proving to be stringless yo-yos. Victimizing, maligning an innocent company is very wrongful behavior.
By-the-by, I am a staunch conservative, not a left liberal. I am constantly annoyed by extremists, right and left, pumping out false information to effect a political agenda.

The FQDN of pbwt.com and yourlegalcareercenter.com resolve to an IP address at a web hosting company.
The information on the office Internet service provided by RCN for "Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP" is accurate.
99.99% of business websites are hosted via specialized "hosting services" and not on some old PC in the IT room of this disgusting law firm.
As much as I would like to support this information. What was posted eariler is true and the article is not.
The IP Address 69.64.213.146 resolves to nyc.electricfiber.net which is aka RCN. Anyone can look this up this is public knowledge, now the mentioned Law Firm could very well use their services but because this is an ISP without a summons or a warrant RCN would not beale to confirm the traffic to the Wikipedia, etc.

Yes, ma'am, sure enough is. RCN is a standard issue internet service provider offering cable internet access, digital television and online telephone services. Almost all customers would have a dynamic IP Address.
This pbwt.com enjoys a fixed static IP address: 167.68.29.177 just as my own home web server enjoys.
For those "racist claims" to originate from pbwt this must display the pbwt static IP Address. This contradicts claims.
Should I assume those wild eyed claims to be true on the 69.64.213.146 IP Address, which is dubious, all which can be factually stated is, "Those problems originated from an RCN customer or staff." No other claim can be made.
This type of fabrication causes problems for all of us regardless of political party affinity.

I wish Rush would sue for slander...everything racial he ever said would come out in the court case. His lawyers would have to prove that he DIDN'T say those 2 things in question. His lawyers would have to prove exactly who wrote it in that office beyond question, and only that one person would be subject to the lawsuit (since Wikipedia is not a newspaper or magazine)...in the end, that one person could say that he heard it or read it and was just passing it along as a rumor (the same as anyone here passing on any birther rumor)...what would come out of the court case would be far more damaging to Rush than the slander case, so RUSH, SUE THE HECK OUT OF THEM! The left would love it! Please, please, please push Rush into suing.

Sorry, Walrus Eater, but since Rush easily meets the public figure you have to show malice and reckless disregard for the truth. Basically, Rush would have to show that the quotes were not true and THAT THEY KNEW they were not true before they used them.
It's a pretty high standard and I doubt Rush could meet it.
I don't know where you came up with the standard, "show malice and reckless disregard for the truth", but it's not correct. Such a high standard would eliminate nearly all lawsuits.
